About Dr. Kearns
Dr. William Kearns is the past-president of the International Society for Gerontechnology based in the Netherlands, and a meritoriously retired associate professor from the University of South Florida. Professor Kearns is the author of two successful US patents and has served on Small Business Innovation Research (SBIR) grant review panels for the Agency for Healthcare Research and Quality, the National Science Foundation, and the National Institutes of Health. Over his 29 years at USF, Professor Kearns wrote and collaborated on proposals for advanced technologies which secured $10M in federal and state funding for USF and for the US Department of Veterans Affairs."
Scientific Review
For companies with medical technology applications, CTK's team will evaluate the product and product literature to determine readiness to be evaluated by US regulatory authorities
Company Sales
Establish how the product will be sold, by agent, distributor or franchisees. This will likely be ascertained by the market research you commission as well as potential agents or distributors. You may also get recommendations for specific companies or individuals by your financial advisors.
Company Formation (US)
This entails setting up a US entity with at least one US citizen as registered agent (this is not the same as a sales agent, this person must be an officer of the US entity (usually the secretary). CTK will advise on options for counsel familiar with international company formation
Contract Manufacture (US)
CTK will advise on identifying and establishing as needed US contract manufacturing.
Regulatory Approvals
stablish whether the product falls under the ambit of any US regulatory agency. CTK will advise on professional consulting scientists and engineers required to prepare submissions to the relevant US regulatory body
City of Operation
Establish US corporate office. States and cities have development offices that assist with location, workforce development, professional services. Financial incentives, if they exist, are often tied to employment generated. Once this is done, you need to comply with state regulations for company registration.
Capital Formation
If your company requires capital to fund US operations you need to appoint a financial advisor/s to meet the company's financing requirements for market entry and sustainable growth.
Product Evaluation
Establish market viability for your product, both from a marketing and validation of intended use and benefit. CTK will commission MBA or advanced graduate students in marketing as well as scientific analysis to do market analysis, access to market, likely endusers, product competitors, and potential agents or distributors.
